Christian Science in Metro Chicago is a joint activity of the Churches of Christ, Scientist and Christian Science Societies in the metro Chicago region. Our purpose is to promote and provide information about Christian Science resources available to anyone who is interested in understanding how spirituality is a force for good – in their life, communities, and the world.

Background
Christian Science in Metro Chicago (CSMetroChicago) was formed in 2018 at the request of the area churches and members to help the public engage with all the Christian Science related resources in the Chicago area. We are a non-profit 501c3 organization, the result of a merger of two activities — Chicago’s jointly-maintained Christian Science Reading Room and the Christian Science Media Committee. [Bylaws]
The focus and current priorities of this activity were established through the involvement of members at several planning meetings throughout 2017 and by church ballot in the fall of 2017. Goals and objectives have been revised annually ever since and an annual strategic plan ratified at the annual business meetings. Current priorities include promoting area lectures, Reading Rooms and church services via a robust internet presence, broadcast phone line service, pop up joint Reading Room and lectures at expos, and coordination among the Christian Science community about our public-facing activities. Annual Reports
Every year, usually in early November, an annual business meeting is held to report on the activities of Christian Science in Metro Chicago. Accomplishments of the year and the committee’s financial standing are shared. A master strategic plan and budget for the coming year is proposed and ratified by the sponsoring churches as well as the annual election of Board members. Recap of Expo Activity
One of the vital joint activities members and churches in the Chicago area support is our participation at the Body Mind Spirit Expos. Held a few times a year in the Chicago area, we sponsor a pop-up joint Christian Science Reading Room at the event along with a couple lectures about Christian Science. These wrap up reports offer a rich overview about these events.
